Austin's Anti-Semitism?
Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 9:00AM Update: Hadag Nahash replies...
"We were scheduled to play a 50 minute set starting 1 am. It goes without saying that we were extremely excited to play this show and were perfectly ready to rock the house. Unfortunately the evening accumulated a significant delay and we couldn't start until about 2 am. Two songs after we started members of Ten Oak staff forced us off the stage claiming the event must finish at 2:15 am. We were shocked and disappointed at this turn of events (as were people in the audience that we spoke to) but there really wasn't much we could do about it. We hope to be back in Austin soon so we can play a proper gig!" Peace, Shaanan of Hadag Nahash "
We totally hope so too.
"Must have been some hipsters brilliant idea..."-smonk you
Is an undercutting patronizing phrase word a form of anti-semitism? All the way from Israel last night, Hadag Nahash was set to perform at Ten Oak only to cut their show three songs in. Why?
Live @ Ten Oak, Austin TX 3/19/2011Attendee Noam Krig posted , "Israeli band Hadag Nahash concert was stopped after 3 songs. Not that Israelis really give a damn but why would you tell the guests that the password to get in is Bacon? Hostility from the beginning to the end at Ten Oak Austin toward Israel. What happened to Texas hospitality for a band who flew 9000 miles?"
"The band was supposed to perform at 1:00 am, but they were pushed to the end of the show until around 2:00am, and after 2 songs the club turned the lights on. Besides that, when I entered the show-room of the club and paid the entry ticket, the guy told me that if the stamp would get erased the password to re-enter is bacon. I know it is hard to prove those things and they can say 'coincidence,' but there are many incidents recently and it's not being reported. It has to stop."
Most Concerning: People are no longer ashamed to parade negative feelings toward Jews, right here in Austin.
On the flipside, others thought it was just logistical FAIL- "This is quite a stretch. I was there, and this was more a matter of poor organization and lack of judgement than anything else. Too bad because HaDag Nachash is an awesome band." - Marcos
